i recently started a playthrough of the virtual console edition of pokemon yellow on my 2ds xl! i picked up a bunch of digital games from the eshop before it shut down, and i've finally gotten around to actually playing them... some titles i picked up include pokemon yellow, pokemon crystal, ace attorney: phoenix wright vs professor layton, the rest of the 3ds ace attorney games, earthbound, shantae, animal crossing: new leaf, persona q, persona q2, the legend of dark witch series, and etrian odyssey untold 1 and 2. i'm pretty happy with how i kitted it out, lol. ofc there are still some games i missed out on, but i'll just have to pick up the physical copies someday. one i really want is yo-kai watch, and another one is project mirai dx.

anyways, back on topic, i've actually already beaten the first generation of pokemon on a few separate occasions, but generation 1 and 2 remain some of my favourites. i don't particularly care for how grindy the gameplay can be, but they just have this charm to them that makes them incredibly fun to play. i love how janky the sprites look sometimes, the bugs are incredibly interesting (as is the general coding), and just knowing how these games were made, and that the creators never could have anticipated how huge the series would become... it all just kind of comes together to make the first two entries really stand out to me. plus, i love how distinctive the style of the games are, with the chunky pixel art and not-quite colour scheme it has going on.

i'm not a fan of people who act superior for liking generation 1 and 2, because i don't think they're actually any more difficult than the later games in the series. they're just built a little differently. personally, i've played nearly every single generation of pokemon, and i love each and every one for its own unique reasons. i'm a casual enjoyer of most of the games, and generally speaking not the kind of person who cares if a game is considered 'good' or 'bad' as long as it's fun to play. in my opinion, entertainment is the most important thing a game can provide, and everything else is just a bonus.

i guess what i'm trying to say is, i know there's a huge ongoing debate about what the best pokemon generations are, and i feel like, while it's






interesting to see people's varying opinions, ultimately the best generation is whichever one you had the most fun playing. for me, in order, those would have to be gen 5 in first, gen 2 in second, and gen 1 in third. though i really love gen 6, and gen 4 was my introduction to the series. (pokemon diamond! i somehow managed not to lose the case or manual as a kid... a miracle.)

i'm a little worried for the direction the newer games seems to be taking, but in the end... as long as they look fun, i'm here for it, for the most part. (*￣▽￣)b

it's friday the 13th today! coincidentally, it's also my friend's birthday! i wonder how she feels about that coincidence...? anyways... lately i've been watching lucky star again! it's been really relaxing... i'm having a hard time deciding who my favourite character is, though... i really love konata and akira, but tsukasa and kagami are really fun, too. i really love minami and yutaka as well, they're a really entertaining pair. regardless, i enjoyed re-watching the series so much that i even ended up picking it up on blu-ray!

once it arrives, i'll definitely post a photo... i love blu-rays and dvds... the designs on them are just so fun sometimes. some personal favourites of mine are the madoka magica dvd and the serial experiments lain dvd! this will actually be my first time getting an anime series on blu-ray instead of dvd, so that's pretty exciting too. the collection expands...! now, it's been a while since i updated my blog, so i'm kind of having a hard time thinking what to write... ヾ(`ヘ´)ﾉﾞ

you know how sometimes, when your mental health takes a sudden turn for the worse, everything you love just kind of turns into a drag...? that's basically how i felt about this website for a while... that is, of course it isn't, but when you're in a certain state of mind, i guess it almost feels like you shouldn't enjoy anything. i'm sure many people can relate to that feeling. still, i'm trying to view it as i'm fighting for the things i love. otherwise i just get more depressed...

i don't like that feeling, but it's a difficult hole to dig yourself out of. i won't get into too much detail of course, but i suppose there was a time that, more than anything, i was truly afraid of enjoying myself doing anything... like doing something i enjoy would somehow mean something awful would certainly happen to balance it out. it was a strange feeling, and it's difficult to explain, but i spent many long nights awake in fear.

honestly, that may be part of the reason i'm so attached to komaeda as a character! however, in my case, this feeling is just a mirage caused by my ocd. it absolutely does not manifest as reality, thank goodness. still, his anxiety certainly hits close to home. (＃￣ω￣)

now, after four or so months of torture, i'm feeling better sometimes. this blog entry is proof, even! so for that, i'm happy. still, even just writing that i'm happy... it feels like i'm inviting misfortune...! what a cruel world!! orz and yet, i will continue writing, because it's something i enjoy... it's an endless cycle, isn't it? (￣ ￣|||)

recently i've been playing a lot of doki doki literature club plus! it's been really great... originally i wasn't expecting it to add on much to the original game, which i was fine with since i love it so much already, but it really exceeded my expectations! i love the extra side stories they added, not to mention all the unlockable extra content like concept art and sketches... ( ´ ꒳ ` ) i can feel my ddlc phase coming back... oh no... (i am so excited)

besides the ddlc brainrot, i've had even worse brainrot: komaeda. (as usual!) i got a bunch more komaeda merch, not to mention the fact that they're finally releasing a nendoroid for him! (ᗒ⩊ᗕ) i wanted so badly to order three of them, but ended up settling for two so as not to go over the order limit for my usual shop... technically i could totally order a third from a separate shop, but i honestly have so much komaeda merch already that i may not actually have enough room... perhaps the order limit was a blessing in disguise...






i also recently picked up a second set of thumb grips for my nintendo switch! this pair is miffy themed, and they're so cute...! now both pairs of joy-cons have extra-cute thumb grips. finally. i've been waiting for this day...! ＼(￣▽￣)／

on a final note, a new game recently released that i've been excitedly waiting for! it's called 'fields of mistria' and it's - wait for it - yet another cozy farming game. my favourite, hehe. (says the psychological horror fangirl) but, that's besides the point! i think this game has exceptionally cute character designs and overall design! pretty much the only gripe i have with stardew valley is that i'm not a big fan of the art style, so i was quite happy to see such a cute game release with similar mechanics.

unfortunately i haven't actually gotten around to playing it much... but i know that i'll love it once i do. (￣▽￣*)ゞ

for the past few days i've been working on a new painting with my girlfriend! we're collaborating on a miku-themed piece... it's been a lot of fun! :3 i really want to experiment with my style a bit here -- hopefully it turns out good. ( ´ ω ` )

life has been so busy lately that i haven't been updating here very much, so i wanted to do a quick lil life update cuz i missed it... ( ¯▿¯ )

so... i might be moving soon! it's super exciting to think about, but also very scary... i'm not really sure what to do with myself! still, i think it'll be really good for me. for some reason, it's totally got me in the mood to draw...

outside of the painting, i'm also work on another sheet for my portfolio! that is, my little portfolio i've been building to try and get a tattoo apprenticeship. i got some advice from a tattoo artist i know, so i'm working on some simpler designs! i decided to go for a pokemon theme since not only is it having another big boom right now, but i've been a huge fan of the series since i was little. (≧◡≦) ♡

as for stuff i've been into lately, which is a little more on-theme for this blog... i've kind of been getting back into genshin lately, since i introduced my girlfriend to it a little while ago. i wanna draw diona sometime soon! she's been my favourite character from the game ever since i first started playing... maybe a month or two after it released? it's insane to me that the game launched so long ago now... (￣ ￣|||)

i also recently watched madoka magica with my girlfriend! it's my favourite show, so of course i had to introduce her to it. she really liked it, and even asked to rewatch it the next time she came over! it made me sooo happy. i love her so much... ( ´ ▽ ` ).｡ｏ♡

she also introduced me to some of her favourite shows... so, we're on season 5 of the walking dead now, and we've been watching dexter and squid game on and off. ^^

playing around with how i format photos on here a lil bit... it's definitely a little more work to post them like this, but i think it turned out cute! hmm...

anyways, i took a bunch of photos today! mostly featuring the wire rack at the end of my bed, lol. i'm not certain yet if i'll actually be moving soon, so i want to take lots and lots of pictures just in case. ( = ⩊ = )

i still want to find a way to make my pages load a bit faster, though... maybe i'll work on that next time? it's hard to say, cuz it's one of those things i just tend to forget about... (note: i managed to figure this out since then!!)

not gonna lie, it was a huge pain to transfer them over!! i never want to do that again!! so i guess i better not ever revamp the site again, hehe.

anyways, again, if anything seems weird about these entries, it's almost definitely cuz the site was formatted waaaaaay different before. references to photos that don't exist on the site anymore, talking about updating or making this or that for the site when it makes no sense... all a whisper from the past, really!
